Arlyce J. Steele, age 87, passed away on Sunday, June 9, 2024, at the Wichita County Health Center in Leoti. She was born on July 6, 1936, to Lewis Merlin and Doris Williams in Imperial, Nebraska. When she was six, the family moved to Wilroads Gardens, Kansas.
She was a member of the Tribune community since 1961, moving from Garden City. While in Tribune, she was a devoted wife and mother, taking care of the home and business. She also volunteered as a Girl Scout leader and helped with hair care at the nursing home. She was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active in the Methodist women’s group. She found enjoyment in gardening, taking care of the yard, and decorating her home. During the summers, Marilyn Schartz would spend summers with the family helping her with projects. Arlyce enjoyed sewing, painting, ceramics, and going to craft fairs. She was adept at playing piano and organ. She loved going to family reunions and traveling with her sister, Darle. She loved watching her children and grandchildren participate in sports, traveling to many events over the years. She was very proud of their accomplishments. People will remember her as pretty and kind, always dressed so nicely with her hair fixed up. Most of all, Arlyce was a Godly woman who cared for others.
On August 20, 1955, Arlyce married Larry Dale Steele in Dodge City. He survives. Together they lived in Manhattan and Garden City before making their home in Tribune.
Arlyce is survived by her husband, her children - Micki & Daniel Blair of Monterey, Tennesee; Kelly & Michael Donohue of Parker, Colorado; and Lance & Linda Steele of Tribune; her grandchildren - Jayson & Melanie Steele of Henrico, Virginia, John & D’Angela Dexter of Tucson, Arizona, Dylan Dexter of Brockport, New York, Landon & Lauren Steele of Dodge City; Laran & Holly Steele of Tribune; Laken & Samantha Steele of Tribune; Lakaya & Ty Bieker of Newton; sixteen great-grandchildren - Emma, John Lee, Remi, Lochlyn, Lynlie, Amaris, Pake, Danen, Otto, Rush, Lawson, Delanie, Lara, Tate, Dominic & Case.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Darle Henry; one brother, Darrell Williams; and one grandson, Cory Ryan Wang.
Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, June 15, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Tribune with Pastor Jeri Smith presiding.
Interment will be at the Greeley County Cemetery following the service.
Public visitation will be from 10:00 until 8 p.m. on Friday, June 14, at the Price and Sons Funeral Home, 322 2nd St. in Tribune.
