Bessie Lee Jones, matriarch and cherished member of the community, peacefully passed away at her home in Aurora, Colorado, on September 3, 2024.
Born on March 17, 1927, Bessie spent many years as a dedicated resident of Greeley County, where she and her husband, Leon Jones Sr., raised their nine children and a granddaughter, who graduated from the Greeley County school system.
Bessie was well known and worked diligently in the school lunchroom before becoming a nurse aide at Tribune Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon Jones Sr., as well as her children Shirley, Stella, Henry, and Leon Jones Jr., her granddaughter Teri Jones, and her siblings.
Bessie is survived by her children: Arnell Doublin (Don), Lenora Hull, Emma Chambers, Wilbur Jones, and Wayne Jones, along with her many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews who will forever cherish her memory.
A private graveside ceremony was held on September 26, 2024, where she was laid to rest in the family plot at Tribune Cemetery.
