John Vaughan, age 79, passed away on June 28, 2023. He was born October 21, 1944, to John Y. and Arla (Baker) Vaughan in North Dakota. John was the oldest of 4 children: Betsy (Randy) Graff, Vicki (Larry) Vondron, and Bruce (Cindy) Vaughan.
Dorleen, age 73, passed away on August 4, 2023. She was born April 7, 1950, in Eads, Colorado to Emerson and Georgia Ruth (Decker) Griffin. Following graduation from Fort Morgan High School, Class of 1968, Dorleen married John Vaughan on June 16, 1968. They celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary just prior to John’s passing. (Dorleen was the niece of the late Lyle Griffin of Tribune.)
John graduated from Wiggins High School in 1963. He served in the USAF for 4 years and was stationed in Ramstein, Germany. He then worked for BC Equipment in Fort Morgan, CO, and then went on to own several businesses, including Sears in Canon City, CO. John enjoyed spending time with his model train collection. He loved being a part of his bowling league, and he adored his 2 cocker spaniels, CoCo and Patches.
Dorleen and John owned several businesses including the Sears Store in Canon City. Dorleen also sold Avon Cosmetics. She loved to watch the Hallmark Channel and was known for her gifts of Hallmark ornaments and cards to family and friends.
They are survived by a daughter, Heather (Chuck) McDuffie; a grandson, Justin (Danielle) McDuffie; and 3 great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kaiden, and Tucker.
Dorleen is survived also by her sisters Diane (Albert) Wurst, Donna Cullen, Connie Ziolkowski; and brother Dale (Janice) Griffin.
John is preceded in death by his parents, John and Arla Vaughan.
Dorleen is preceded in death by her parents, Emerson Griffin and Georgia Young; and brother, Duane Griffin.
A graveside memorial service will be held for both John and Dorleen in Tribune on Friday, October 13, 2023, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Jeri Smith presiding.
