Betty Marie (Chilson) Osborn
Betty Marie (Chilson) Osborn passed away August 7, 2025 at the Greeley County Long Term Care, in Tribune. She was the daughter of William Francis Chilson and Anna Kathleen (Herr) Chilson. She was born on September 17, 1936 in Horace.
Betty grew up in Horace and attended Tribune High School and graduated in 1954. She went on to further her education attending courses to become a medical assistant and graduated in 1973. On August 22, 1953, she married Merle Joseph Osborn in Raton, New Mexico. To this union four children were born - Joe Jr., Bill, Denise and Kay. They made their home in Pueblo, Colorado where she was a housewife raising her children. She sold Avon at the same time to interact with people and see that they received the best products. She was also a medical assistant at a podiatry clinic in Pueblo. She later began working for the State of Colorado in the Unemployment Office and later transferred to Denver and retired a year later in 1991. Soon after retirement she moved to Cynthiana, Kentucky to enjoy retirement and in 1998 she moved to Tribune and resided there until her passing.
Betty was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, The Red Hat Society, American Business Women’s Association, Assembly of God Church, and the Tribune Senior Center. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, reading, playing the piano and organ, drawing, bird-watching, shopping, playing granny pitch, but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her father William Francis Chilson; her mother Anna Kathleen (Herr) Chilson; her son William Andrew Osborn; her daughter Denise Marie Seal; and her sister Patricia Wilanna Chilson.
She is survived by her son Joe Jr. (& wife Maribeth) Osborn of Cincinnati, Ohio; her daughter Kay Fuller of Tribune, 14 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren, and 44 great great grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at 10:30 AM at the Assembly of God Church in Tribune. Inurnment will follow in the Greeley County Cemetery in Tribune.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be payable to Betty Osborn Memorial Fund and may be sent to Betty Osborn Memorial, 323 Martin Ave., P.O. Box 353, Tribune, KS 67879.
