NOTICE OF SPECIAL QUESTION ELECTION

TO ALL OF THE QUALIFIED ELECTORS OF THE CITY OF TRIBUNE, KANSAS:

Notice is hereby given by the Board of Supervisors of Unified Greeley County, Kansas, and the County Election Officer of Unified Greeley County, Kansas, that there will be a special question election in the City of Tribune on the 3rd day of November, 2026, for the purpose of voting on the special question of levying a city retailers’ sales tax in the amount of one percent (1. 0%) on retail sales consummated within the City of Tribune, Kansas, for the purpose of generating additional revenue to provide ad valorem property tax relief within the City, in accordance with the provisions of K.S.A. 12-187 et seq., and amendments thereto. If approved by a majority of the electors voting thereon, such tax will take effect on the 1st day of April, 2027, and shall expire ten (10) years from the date the tax is first collected, and said tax shall be collected by Kansas Department of Revenue, and the revenue therefrom returned to the City of Tribune. 

Notice is further given that the polls will be open for voting between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. on said date at the Greeley County Courthouse.

The proposition to be voted on is as follows:

Shall the following be adopted?

Shall a retailers’ sales tax in the amount of one percent (1.0%) be levied in the City of Tribune, Kansas, for the purpose of generating additional revenue to provide ad valorem property tax relief within the City, to take effect April 1, 2027, and expire ten (10) years from the date the tax is first collected?

To vote in favor of the question submitted upon this ballot, darken the oval to the left of the word “Yes”, to vote against it, darken the oval to the left of the word “No”.
