Peggy Theodosia (Martin) Loop, age 68, gained her heavenly wings on January 17, 2024, at Wesley Medical Center -MICU in Wichita, Kansas. She was born October 14th, 1955, in Tribune to Lawrence “Lucky” and Dorothy (Burnett) Martin. Peggy attended elementary and high school in Tribune. After graduation she attended and earned a degree from Salt City Business School in Hutchinson, KS. She worked as an assistant and caretaker to Kenneth Goertzen, a geneticist in wheat research. She was able to travel the world, visiting places like Egypt, Rome, Jerusalem, and Sydney while holding this position. Peggy also worked as an administrative assistant for the Knox Center, an addiction treatment center, in Wichita. She held several positions at retailers in downtown Hutchinson and Haven but her most favorite position was being a wife, mother and homemaker.
On June 8, 1974, Peggy married Larry Lee Loop at the Eastwood Church of Christ in Hutchinson. They shared nearly 50 years of marriage.
Survivors include her beloved husband, Larry, their sons Jeff (Adria) Loop and Daniel (Katie) Loop both of Haven; their eleven grandchildren Keaton, Riley, Makayla, Van, Brooke, Madi (Cody), Isabelle, Lily, Trevor and Emalee, and two great-grandchildren Bayler and Lincoln; her brother, Greg (Ruth) Martin of Blue Rapids, Kansas, and many others she loved and adored.
She was preceded in death by her parents Lawrence and Dorothy Martin.
Services were held at 12 noon on Saturday, January 27, at the Haven Church of Christ, 111 N. Salina in Haven, with a visitation before. Graveside services followed at Laurel Cemetery, 5359 E. Greenfield Rd, Haven, Kansas. The family gathered at Haven Park Building following the graveside. Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the American Diabetes Association, American Heart Association, and the Kidney Foundation.
Peggy adored her family. She loved attending the grandkids sporting events, whether sitting in the stands or, if the weather was chilly, from the car in the parking lot. She was a life-long friend keeping in contact with high school friends and extended family. She would meet with the “Aunty” group every year where they would enjoy a meal together and exchange bee themed gifts, as it was always a running competition of who was the Queen Bee of the group. Peggy enjoyed crafting and would often upcycle items for gifts. She was a thoughtful gift giver and picked up gifts as she passed them when they reminded her of someone. She was a collector of knick-knacks and treasures, filling several curio cabinets to the brim, able to tell you the story of each and every piece. She had an affection for anything with hearts or angels. She loved animals of all kinds, especially bulldogs having owned many over the years. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, having lunch in the park or taking a drive down to the lake. She loved fast cars and the thrill of speed. She didn’t know a stranger, cared for so many and was loved by all. She will be greatly missed.
