RESOLUTION# 2026-006
A RESOLUTION REPEALING RESOLUTION #2026-005, AND LIFTING THE BURN BAN IN UNIFIED GREELEY COUNTY, KANSAS
WHEREAS, at its regular meeting on March 23, 2026, the Board of Supervisors of Unified Greeley County, Kansas, determined that extremely dry conditions existed in the County, which created the substantial risk of uncontrollable fires that threatened the destruction of crops, grass, buildings and life; and
WHEREAS, at its regular meeting on March 23, 2026, the Board of Supervisors adopted Resolution #2026-005, which prohibited or banned any open burning outside the unincorporated areas of Unified Greeley County, Kansas; and
WHEREAS, there has recently been widespread moisture in Unified Greeley County, Kansas, which has lowered the risk of uncontrollable fires; and
WHEREAS, the Board of Supervisors has determined that Resolution #2026-005 shall be repealed and the ban on open burning should be lifted, provided all requirements for open burning as set forth in Resolution #2011-016 are met prior to any open burning.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the Board of Supervisors of Unified Greeley County, Kansas hereby repeals Resolution #2026-005, and thereby lifts the ban on open burning in Unified Greeley County, Kansas; provided, however, that Resolution #2011-016 remains in full force and effect, and all requirements set forth in Resolution #2011-016 must be complied with before any open burning occurs in the unincorporated areas of Unified Greeley County, Kansas.
This Resolution shall take affect and be in full force from and after its passage and publication once in the official County newspaper.
Adopted by the Board of Supervisors of Unified Greeley County on this 22 day of June, 2026.
